Some big literary names are coming to Charlotte and not to be missed. Published authors and lecturers, oh my! Here are three of my (pretty-well-known) favorites:
Sept. 30: Henry Louis Gates (“Life Upon These Shores: Looking at African American History, 1513-2008”), on his research and new television series, 7 p.m., McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square. Free, but tickets must be reserved at drgatessept30.eventbrite.com.
Oct. 10: Michael Pollan at Queens University (“Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation”) on how cooking can change your life, 7 p.m., Dana Auditorium. Tickets: $40, carolinatix.org.
Oct. 24: David Sedaris (“Let’s Explore Diabetes With Owls”), 7:30 p.m., tickets $28-$47, carolinatix.org.
