Curling facility

Curling, a notoriously Northern sport (and we’re talking way North as in Canada) is getting a new facility in Charlotte, off Statesville Ave. (between I-77 and Sunset Blvd.). Plans call to begin construction this month according to news reports. The Charlotte Curling Association bought the land, and the 16,500 sq. ft. building will house four curling sheets, as well as a kitchen, locker rooms, and a warm area for people to watch. Two donors within the club have agreed to pay for the land and part of the construction. The Charlotte Curling Association now has 94 members, and was founded in 2010 after the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
