It’s no secret (once again) that I love a parade! The Charlotte Goes Green Festival and Parade does not disappoint. Organizers say there will be something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. The parade steps off at 11 a.m. downtown. The festival is the place to be after the parade. It’s located on S. Tryon St. between 1st Street and 3rd Street from 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and features Irish music, Irish dancers, bagpipers, Irish/Celtic and other vendors, a large children’s amusement area and plenty of food and beverages. There is no admission fee to attend.
And, after the festival, head on over to the Green River Revival at the U.S. National White Water Center. The celebration will kick off at 9 a.m. with the Color Me Green 5K, a trail race similar to the Color Run. At 1 p.m., watch as the whitewater rapids turn bright green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, followed by live music by the Tim Reynolds and TR3 and the Mike Strauss band. The river will remain open to those eager to raft or kayak the green waters.
