The saying goes, “free is better than cheap,” and this one caught my eye. The Mint is inviting the community to watch an art installation. Interesting, indeed! Stop by the Mint Museum Uptown from Monday, May 6th, 2013, through Monday, May 20th, and watch the progress of John W. Love, Jr. as he creates Fecund, an experiential installation, in Morrison Atrium. Love, a visual artist, playwright, poet, stage/video director, and actor, will be in residency at the Mint Museum during the installation process. Visitors can get into the atrium for free, but will have to pay regular admission for the rest of the museum. The installation will be a precursor to his performance art exhibition on First Look Friday, May 17, 2013, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This event is free to museum members and $15 to others. Admission to this performance also includes access to the Mint to Move Cultural Dance night at Mint Museum Randolph.
