What is the Applied Innovation Corridor?

The Applied Innovation Corridor is an area referred to in the Center City Partners 2020 Vision Plan that stretches from South End through Uptown and North End linking to the UNC Charlotte Campus. The vision for the Applied Innovation Corridor includes a mix of businesses, neighborhoods, transportation and support services in sync with the region’s objectives for economic growth and quality housing.
Connections to transit, job centers, pedestrian and bike-friendly neighborhoods  are a part of this plan which also considers light and commuter rail. North End initiatives addressed in the 2020 Vision Plan consider the area’s “unique residential character and industrial history” and foresee a “a distinctly walkable, mixed-use urban industrial park for the area with distinctive neighborhoods.
The Applied Innovation Corridor is envisioned as an area of “creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship with unparalleled connectivity”. Brightwalk’s plans blending various housing offerings, biking and walking trails, art and commerce are very much in sync with the principles envisioned for this area.
